Support camp: how teenagers from Bucha and Gostomel learned to overcome war trauma

Freedom, energy, support, understanding, and genuine communication — these values became the foundation of a summer camp for children of servicemen, including those whose loved ones are missing or have died in the war, with families living in Bucha and Hostomel.

  • The International Ukrainian Charitable Foundation Children of War joined the project and conducted a four-day program called Children and War. Psychologists Olesia Dolina, Andrii Chyrko, and Lina Komleva worked with children aged 10–15, helping them process the trauma of occupation and view their experiences as a valuable resource for the future.

We sincerely thank the organizers of the summer camp — the charitable foundation My Home (Bucha/Hostomel) — for their trust and cooperation. The project took place at the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute with the support of «Ukraine TrustChain та IBF «Light of Christ».

This camp was not only an opportunity for children to relax, but also a chance to receive important psychological support. Together, we created a space where teenagers could freely communicate, develop, and receive emotional support from professionals and volunteers.

Together we are building a strong Ukraine!
